“Nalam tharum sollai nalum solvom; Shri Ram, Jaya Ram, Jaya, Jaya Ram” Dear Community Members, INDEPENDENCE DAY GREETINGS TO ALL To-day we have included in our web-site (1) Measure for Measure (a tale from Shakespeare)
Tamil Translation by Natesa
Sastry and (2) Arumuga Navalar
Charithram. With this, our members can read during their leisure time, Selected Tamil
Books authored by legendary Tamil Writers for a long period. We will be adding New Books on a regular basis. While on this, we were reading few English books recently. We were wondering as to why we should not have a separate Section in our web-site for World best English Creations so that our Members who are interested in reading
English Novels/Stories can read from our Site itself instead of hunting for the same,
elsewhere. Therefore, to-day on our 65th Independence Day, we have introduced this Section with the following few all-time great creations :- (1) The Time Machine – by H.G. Wells (2) The Magician – By Somerset Maugham (3) Sherlock Homes – By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle We will be adding in this Section World best English Works Authored by great legends like Bernard Shaw, Leo Tolstoy Pearl S Buck, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie and others. No doubt, we have presented them as usual in Larger Print with pleasing colour background
so that our elderly members and Children can read them comfortably. Our Thondaimandala Mudaliars

ONLINE READING
More than 50
years back,during my
school days, I have read a number of Tamil Novels,
short Stories written by our
legendary and eminent Tamil Writers like Kalki,
KI_VA_JA,
Jaya Kanthan,
Akilan, Deepam Parthasarathi, Sandilyan, Tamil Vanan and other great writers
of
that time, thanks to a well-stocked Govt. Library located in our
Street itself (at
Srivilliputtur) !.
I enjoyed their great writings mainly impressed by their Story element,
Suspense element (What next?what next?) and even to-day some of the characters like
Padakoti Ponnan,
Valli, Thigambara Samiyar, Sankarlal etc linger in my mind.
I happened to re-read "E"Version
of Kalki"s " Parthiban Kanavu",
recently
and enjoyed each word and
every sentence particularly for the mastery over the language by
the author,
its natural and seamless flow,
emotion and wisdom packed words, even though the story and
suspense elements were missing since
I more or less remember the outline of the story.
I
sincerely felt the need to make available these Great Works in "E"
Version
in our Community Web-site for
the benefit all our members particularly those
who are residing outside Tamil
Nadu within the Country or Abroad, since
carrying Hard Copies abroad is almost
impossible due to baggage weight
restrictions.
Instead of usual Black and White Print, I have made the back-ground in
pleasing and light colour and the print material in contrast colour with bold letters
so that members, specially
Senior Citizens and Children can read easily
without much Strain. I am sure our
members will enjoy reading them.
I
have included the following 2 Novel/short story in our web-site.
1. Parthiban Kanavu.
2. Selected Short-Stories by Jayakanthan
I am planning to
include 2 to 3 novels every month. Next in the pipe-line
are (1) Ponniyin
Selvan which has 12 Parts, (2) Sujatha's
Shorts Stories
(3) Ki-Va-Ja Short Stories, Mu-Va writing
etc. Our web-site link is:-
mudaliartm.org
( double-click on the "selected Tamil Classic
Novels) and
select the novel you wish to read by double clicking it)
I
appreciate your frank comments and suggestions for improvements.
2ND FEBRUARY, 2010
500th Anniversary of Krishnadevaraya's coronation ceremony
You may be aware that Govt. of Karnataka is celebrating
in a grand manner
the 500th
Anniversary of Krishnadevaraya's coronation ceremony.
You may be also aware that our own ancestor Dalawoy Ariyanatha Mudaliar
was his
Minister and also Army Chief and was considered one of the Gems of
Krishnadevaraya's inner-council !!!. Members of our community
living in
Madurai, Ramanad and Tirunelveli
Districts can feel proud of the
fact that they
are the descendants of the Great Ariyanatha !!!.
Our fore-fathers,
in the early 20th Century (1916) itself compiled our
blood-line
( Kodivali-Jabitha) Directory
which was updated in the year 1933. Inspired by
their great
work, we have published the Kodivali Jabitha (Community Tree)
in the
year 2006 updating the Lineage till date in respect of a number of Gothras
wherever
possible in our web-site mudaliartm.org. However, the entire List could
not be
updated till date for want of details.
Our request
to the Community members to furnish us
the details
atleast in respect of their own families/Gothras since the year
1933, has not yielded much result. We have also added to
the Community
Tree many more family trees hailing from other places in
the State.
We once again request the
members who are left out in the above
Community Tree to furnish the details so that it can be
updated for the
benefit of our
future Generations.
Kindly feel proud of the
Fact that no other Community in the World
possesses such a
Community-tree directory covering over almost 500 long
years !!!

OUR THONDAIMANDALA MUDALIARS SHOULD ALWAYS REMAIN AS
FORWARD COMMUNITY NOT ONLY IN “COMMUNITY TAG” BUT ALSO
MENTALLY, CULTURALLY, ECONOMICALLY AND BY ALL OTHER ASPECTS
|
I
have seen exchange of views on whether we,Thondaimandala Mudaliars, as
a community, should try for getting "Back-ward" Tag for our Community to get all associated economic benefits from the Government Or refrain from doing so and continue with the "Forward
Community" Status, as hitherto. While no one can deny that there are
definite Plus and Minus points on both the views, I personally feel that we should debate
this vital issue thoroughly without any prejudice, get maximum number of
view points and arrive at a common stand. As a
member of our Community, I wish to express my personal views in this regard while assuring all our community members
that I will standby the common decision taken by our community, after considering all
relevant view points. We, as most
of you will agree, have absolutely NO CHOICE, in
selecting either our Community, or Parents Or Brothers and sisters or even
look or complexion, and those who believe in God, will agree with
me that it is decided by The Almighty totally based on our "Poorva-jenma karma" only. Therefore while it is
indeed a desirable thing to be well-descended, the glory belongs to our ancestors and our own past
deeds in Our Previous births. I am sure all
our Community members feels personally proud to have been born
in our community with its Glorious past. (To know more about our past history please click this link. Mudaliartm.org) Now, it is
proved beyond any shadow of doubt, scientifically, that our IQ, physical
appearance, our colour, our mental framework
including attitudes, or behaviour, even our way of
thinking and tone of speech, health condition etc
are determined by genes of our Forefathers. Our glorious
past history shows that our illustrious forefathers
right from Sekkilar onwards were reputed
for their high IQ, high moral values, administrative ability, honesty,
loyalty etc. Because of our these unique
and great qualities, the great Chola king Karikal Cholanhas
awarded the title of "Mudaliars" (muthanmaiars meaning (first)
citizens) to our community members. Since then we are called as "Thondaimandala Mudaliars". Since their genes run in
our blood, our community members by and large have high IQ, logical brain, honesty,
high moral values and therefore excel in Administrative, Accounting and
particularly in IT sector, though we have not proved ourself well in industries, business
etc. Similarly every Community has its own unique
characteristics, like Chettiars, Marwaris and Nadars excel in
Business, some community excel in fine Arts, some other community
excel in bravery etc. It is wise and prudent to know one's
strength and weakness and concentrate in the areas where we are strong and
develop it further. It is a fact
that we have not kept pace with new developments mainly in
education and maintained our Prime status in the society, in the last
century. May be our community members, particularly in the last
two generations have lived-off their forefathers' wealth. They have also
not acquired or given to their children modern education which is so vital
for growth and advancement, as they did
not have access to higher education, because of our community members were
living in villages far away from main education centres.
Our present economic backwardness is mainly attributable to this fact. But even today,
the situation is not that bad ! Large number
of Our younger generation have excelled themselves particularly in IT Field. But the % is very small. To regain our last
Prime status in the Society, we need to support and encourage large number of our Community youngsters to exploit their inherent strengths and reach higher
goals both intellectually and economically. It is a fact that large number of our community youngsters who are very bright are not able to come-up because of lack of proper guidance and financial Support. If, we
are able to spot such bright youngsters (i.e. our children scoring more than
90% in their Plus-2 and unable to pursue their further studies for lack of
finance) and give them Proper guidance and financial support, atleast for about 20 to 30 bright students every year and also establish a fool-proof self-regulating machinery
so that the benefits accrued to these youngsters are ploughed back to future needy
youngsters on a continual basis, It will not be very long before
our "Tondai Mandala Mudaliars" community regains its prime
social status. I personally
appeal to our community members, particularly elder members and also
fortunate Members who are well placed, to
consider this community issue on emergency basis and come
up with some workable plan, immediately for the upliftment of our community. With my personal
experience of nearing 70 years, getting "Backward Community" tag is not the right answer to our
present unenviable economical Backwardness. Further, as a matter of fact, it is also NOT
that easyto get this Backward Status, with our very little or NIL political clout and also our community's
negligible voting power, as a minority community. Further, I wish to
remind our community members who are advocating for getting Backward Status
that even in Brahmins Community there are large number Of families
who are much poorer than our members and not even one Individual (not to say about the community as a group) has asked for Such Backward status. They have pride in their community. LET
US ALSO TAKE PRIDE IN OUR COMMUNITY AND BELIEVE
IN OUR OWN STRENTHS AND BENEFIT FROM IT THAN TO GET SYMPATHY FOR OUR WEAKNESS
AND GET BENEFITS, BY DEGRADING OURSELVES. I also
request you to give wider awareness by copying this message to all
our fellow-community-members whose "E" Mail - Ids. are with you and request
them to participate in this debate with seriousness, the issue deserves AND
COMEOUT WITH THEIR VALUABLE SOLUTIONS. Bala. Namasivayam |

We have about 130 Recipes, which we
prepare both during our festival days and in our day-to-day menu, listed in our
web-site.
Out of this, we have just compiled preparation methods in respect of 62 recipes which we are adding in our web-site, to-day. Balance
recipes will be added progressively.
We hope our community members will find it useful. This will be more useful to
our younger generation members, particularly who are living abroad and even to
our bachelors who are forced to resort to self-cooking, just for
survival, in a foreign country where, as a pure vegetarian, you cannot get anything
to your taste outside!.
We are confident, if you follow the preparation method step-by-step, the result
should be upto your expectation. In the most
unlikely event of not being so, you are welcome to write to us, for having a relook at it, and make necessary correction, if
required.

There are 15 Columns in our Community Kodi-vazhi
Jabitha which gives complete details of any community
member. We find that a number of community
members who like to include their family details in the Community Web are
finding it difficult to get all details in respect of these 15 columns.
We like to clarify in this
connection that details for all 15 columns are
not Mandatory. Only details for the following columns are
a Must. Other details are optional.
a)Gothra Name.
b)Name of
the member.
c)Native Place.
c) Spouse name.
d)Spouse gothra, if available.
e)Spouse native place.
Member ID (MID), Gothra ID, Generation, Rank. Spouse
ID and Spouse gothra IDs are system generated. This
is in respect of whose families whose ancestors
details are already available on the Web.
For those
members whose ancestors names are not available on the
Web, they need to give details from their Vamsavali Moola-purshas. It can be from their Grandfather onwards.
Never is too late for including the family
details in our community web-site.

We are very privilaged and lucky to have
been born in Thondaimandala Mudaliars
Community with Tamil as our Mother Tongue, in that we have inherited very rich collection of "Thuthi Padalgal" authored by
great Poets, on our Gods.
The day is not very far, when our Community Members will be occupying high
posts all over the world and each of
our household will possess computers with high speed internet facilities. And
also, the days for existance
of any information, including literature, thuthi padalgal etc.,
in hard copies are counted. You will
agree that the
future is for availability of
every information in "e" version only.
With
this in mind, in our Community Web-site, a section under heading "Thuthi Padalgal" has been just started. In this section, we will be creating
a collection of classicial poems on our Gods, authored by very great
poets, to enable our Members to recite
them during our festivals. We have grouped them under 7 titles, so as to enable
our honorable members recite one title each day on all the 7 days of the week
and benefit greatly from this. As we growup in age, people will find reciting such poems will
bring great mental peace and happiness.

In order to view the details of members of each gothram
only, (since the master list is too large to browse)
we have today improved our web-site so that you can goto
Gothra Masterlist, find
your gothra and click on it. You will be
able to view not only your gothra member details from
gothra moola-prusha onwards
till now but also your Family Deity
Photo will be available right on top of the list always blessing the
members. We have introduced this new feature to-day
only in respect of “AG”
and “MA” gothras-IDs,
since we had their family-deities
photos readily with us. We will
be covering all the gothras under this new feature shortly.
In the meantime, we would like to request the energetic
members of each gothra to send their family deity
photo
with details so that it can be included.
